Even though Windows 7 no longer gets free security updates, as of January 14, 2010, Microsoft has announced the availability of paid Windows 7 Extended Security Updates.
What does this mean?
The average home computer user should leave Windows 7 behind and upgrade to a modern, supported version of Windows like Windows 10, as the average Windows 7 user can’t buy these updates. They’re only available to businesses and other organizations with Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise.
